A MORE CONSIDERED APPROACH
At CUiRASÉX, sustainability begins with making fewer objects and expecting more from each one. We favour material quality, skilled craftsmanship and long-term use over volume, speed and seasonal turnover.
Our approach is grounded in specific choices: using surplus leathers sourced from distinguished French and Italian tanneries; limiting each iCONS+ design to a maximum of 10 pieces; specifying durable components, including hand-polished 316L stainless-steel hardware; and reducing unnecessary packaging.
Leather goods are not impact-free. Our responsibility is to use materials with greater care and create objects worthy of being kept.
MATERIALS CHOSEN WITH CARE
The character of every iCONS+ begins with its materials. We use surplus leathers selected from existing stocks held by distinguished tanneries in France and Italy, including fine goatskins chosen for their grain, colour and hand. Working with existing stocks allows exceptional materials to be used without commissioning leather specifically for a new production run.
Materials are selected for durability as well as appearance and matched to each design in deliberately small quantities. Natural variations in grain, texture and colour are preserved as part of the leather’s character, making every finished piece subtly distinct.
Finite by design
The inaugural iCONS+ series comprises 13 designs, each limited to a maximum of 10 pieces. The available pieces are already completed and ready to ship, and no further production is planned. Rather than sustaining a cycle of seasonal releases, CUiRASÉX is focused on finding long-term owners for a finite body of work—objects conceived to be kept, used and valued over time.
MAKING MORE OF WHAT ALREADY EXISTS
iCONS+ was created with surplus leathers selected from existing tannery stocks. Because these materials already existed in finite quantities, each design began with what was available rather than with an order for leather produced specifically for the collection.
The complexity of the bags inevitably generates offcuts. We aim to plan cutting efficiently and retain usable remnants where practical for sampling and smaller components. We do not claim a zero-waste process; our focus is on using valuable materials with greater care.
CRAFTED IN CHINA. MATERIALS FROM EUROPE
Every iCONS+ is handmade in China by experienced leather artisans. Its leathers are sourced from distinguished tanneries in France and Italy, while specialised components are selected for quality, durability and performance.
We believe responsible communication begins with transparency. Place of manufacture and material provenance are not contradictions: each iCONS+ brings together European materials, specialist craftsmanship and meticulous hand-finishing in a single, highly complex object.
PACKAGING DESIGNED TO STAY
Each iCONS+ is accompanied by a protective dust bag and a rigid presentation box designed to be retained and reused rather than discarded after delivery.
We minimise unnecessary layers and avoid single-use plastic wherever practicable, while using recycled paper-based materials in the presentation box. Packaging must also protect a highly detailed leather object during international transit; our approach balances reduced material use with durability and proper protection.
Durability by Design
An object kept in use is more responsible than one designed for replacement. Each iCONS+ combines fine leather, precision construction, Raccagni zips and hand-polished 316L stainless-steel hardware. An average of 45 hours of artisanal work goes into each piece, with close attention paid to structure, finishing and long-term performance.
The collection was conceived outside the cycle of seasonal obsolescence. Its value lies in distinctive design, physical durability and the emotional connection between object and owner. Detailed care guidance is provided, and after-sales enquiries are assessed individually, with repair options considered where technically possible.
